Service project ideas for UVRMC Pediatrics (ages birth-teens)1. Collect and donate: New stuffed animals, toys (including infant rattles or light-up, musical toys), games, books, play-dough, bubbles, stickers, crayons, coloring books, silly string, teen magazines (such as Snowboarding, Young Miss, etc), silly putty, recent G or PG rated movies, Music CD's (We can use everything from classical to rock-as long as it is appropriate for youngsters)2. Make princess tiaras for young girls using thin, glittery, party garland (with stars or hearts). We can always use new blankets and quilts (from crib to twin size) or new infant sleepers & pajamas.4. Make new pillowcases out of bright, fun, holiday material for children to use and take home. (Please wash pillowcases so that the dye from the material does not rub off onto little faces!)5. Sew stuffed muslin dolls used for teaching about medical procedures that are given away during hospital stays and pre-operation tours. (We have a pattern for the dolls and for a tiny hospital gown)6. Make toiletry kits in Ziploc bags (for parents who have to stay unexpectedly in the hospital): toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, brush, deodorant, shaving cream, disposable razors, soap, travel-size shampoo, conditioner, etc. 7. Put together school boxes for school-age patients including crayons, pencils, rulers, glue, scissors, etc. 8.
